My Story
I trained as a nurse in the 1970’s specialising in orthopaedics, but left the profession to go into the Information Technology business world. As the business changed, I moved from being a technical specialist to a business consultant, and as an entrepreneur I have run a specialist service helping organisations and people manage major change. It is now evident to me that major life change affects peoples’ health, and the key to good health is to manage how you think about change.
My own life had some significant changes in the last 10 years,
one of which resulted
in me contracting a very serious illness,
acute atypical viral pneumonia which has
left me with lung
damage. The doctors who cared for me did a great job,
(I will ever
be grateful to East Surrey Hospital) but the focus
was on managing the “disease”.
When it came to trying to
rebuild my health there was little help available from
“western”
medicine which really just deals with disease and damage. I
turned to alternative
approaches with great results, and soon
blossomed into better health than I had had
for years. However,
the damaged lung sat there as a major risk to my health, and
the
only options I seemed to have were daily steroid inhalers
and lots of antibiotics,
or having the lung removed (no way!).
A persistent cough sapped my energy and strained
my body, so
I really had to work hard at staying healthy.
Again I searched for alternative approaches, especially breathing techniques to keep my lung clear, when a Tai Chi Master recommended Dr Gordon Farmer and his cold laser therapy. At first I didn’t really believe the story, but after a nasty chest infection, I went to see Gordon. In one easy treatment he cleared my chest and stopped my cough – the effect lasted months. I now need a little “top” up of laser therapy twice a year to keep me healthy, cough and infection free. I believe I can avoid surgery and keep very good long term health.
Of course, I recommended friends who were struggling with restrictive health issues (chronic migraine, severe arthritis, etc). They all had remarkable improvements, but the doctor, Gordon, is heavily
